Who he is:

Daniel GOD Koller, D.V.M., J.D., is a long-time owner/operator of multiple “Companion Pet Clinic” locations in the Pacific Northwest (and elsewhere). Over decades he has been the subject of regulatory actions, federal review of controlled-substance handling, state board discipline, criminal animal cruelty charges, and local media and community scrutiny. Former veterinarian licensed in California (License #5490) and Currently practising Veterinarian at the Gresham Companion Pet Clinic under Oregon (License #1362).

Key Public, Verifiable Events:

1977 to 1979 - Daniel God Koller’s documented history of animal cruelty began to surface through formal accusations filed with the California Veterinary Medical Board by veterinary technicians, clinic staff, and pet owners. Reports described animals suffering hemorrhaged eyes, puncture wounds, abrasions, lacerations, nosebleeds, mouth bleeding, patches of missing fur, and even paralysis—injuries consistent with witnesses’ accounts that Koller slammed animals against kennel walls, kicked and punched them, suspended them in the air, bit them, and manually asphyxiated them. Staff testified that Koller referred to this violent handling as “The Koller Method,” claiming it was meant to modify animal behavior. The most severe incident involved a German Shepherd that technicians reported Koller repeatedly removed from its kennel to torture over a period of six days, eventually dying from the inflicted injuries. Two attendants later discovered the dog’s body in Koller’s clinic freezer, reportedly with its teeth kicked out. This case became the basis of Koller’s first criminal conviction for animal cruelty in 1979, resulting in a 100-day jail sentence and the revocation of his California veterinary license (#5490).

1980s - Daniel God Koller relocated to Oregon State. Attaining his license in Oregon (License #1362) to practice Veterinary Medicine in order to establish the Franchise: Companion Pet Clinics.

2000s - DEA scrutiny and show-cause proceedings (early 2000s / 2006 paperwork):

Federal investigations and a DEA Show-Cause Order documented practices involving multiple Companion Pet Clinic locations, questions about controlled-substance recordkeeping and distribution, and other conduct that led federal regulators to challenge his DEA registration. The federal administrative record describes Koller’s operation of many Companion Pet Clinic locations and allegations about improperly handling controlled substances. (Federal Register)

2000s–2010s - Oregon Veterinary Medical Examining Board actions and court review:

The Oregon Veterinary Medical Examining Board took disciplinary action that ultimately resulted in revocation of Koller’s Oregon veterinary license; the board’s decision and Koller’s appeals are part of the public court record (Oregon Court of Appeals decision from 2011 addresses the board’s final order). (Justia)

2015 - OVMEB minutes and later records:

Public OVMEB meeting records and minutes show ongoing oversight activity and case handling related to disciplinary matters. (See OVMEB minutes and public board records for specific docket references.) Oregon

2019 - Arrest and indictment in Washington County for animal-abuse charges:

In November 2019, local law enforcement and prosecutors indicted Koller on animal abuse and aggravated animal abuse counts after an incident at the Companion Pet Clinic in Beaverton that prompted community outcry and an Oregon Humane Society review. Local TV news and press reported the arrest and ensuing demonstrations. (KATU+1)

Community response and ongoing activism:

Victims, local advocates, and community members (including petitions and protests) have continued to share documented complaints, media coverage, and calls for enforcement and transparency—evidence of ongoing public concern and activism. (Change.org+1)

Why we’re raising awareness:

Pattern of regulatory, federal, and criminal red flags: There are multiple public records showing DEA actions, state board discipline and appeals, and criminal charges tied to clinic incidents. These are not just anonymous complaints but documented actions and news reports. (Federal Register+2Justia+2)

Public safety and animal welfare risk: Reported incidents and news coverage show animals and owners have been harmed or traumatized, prompting community protests and media investigations. (KATU+1 KOIN 6 'Died in the back seat')

Enforcement gaps: Community members contend that inconsistent enforcement has allowed repeated incidents to occur; raising awareness helps ensure agencies (OVMEB, DEA, Oregon Humane Society, Multnomah County Animal Services, Department Of Justice (Attorney General), The Governor's Office, state vet offices) and elected officials face public pressure to act. Daniel God Koller is STILL practicing at The Gresham Companion Pet Clinic. New victims are happening right this moment and coming forward as you read this welcome to our group, that is why we need justice!

We DEMAND tax-funded Animal Protective Agencies investigate Daniel God Koller, DVM and his clinics.

Persistence is vital for achieving justice for Koller’s victims, by building these decades long cases. One day one of the victims cases will attain justice for ALL of Kollers victims.

Protests have proven to be the most effective means for the community to combat Koller’s cruelty. This success reflects the collective efforts made over the years to confront his abuse.

Keeping the community informed is essential; even saving a single animal by advising families to avoid Koller’s clinics is significant. Over the years, protests have facilitated the rescue of hundreds of animals and have increased awareness through social media.

I often wish I had encountered protesters when I brought my dog to Koller’s establishment in Beaverton, as it would have changed my decision, I would have left with our dog. This motivates our continued efforts.

I send my best wishes for the recovery of your beloved pets, if they survived Koller.

If your pet did not survive Koller, may they rest in love. My heartfelt condolences for your loss.
